Hendricks, a staff favorite whose work has hung above at least one desk in our New York offices for many years. Known for his vivid, empowered portraits of Black people, Hendricks' work is collected in at several books on our list, including 30 Americans, Narcissus in the Studio and our own forthcoming catalog, Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power, published to accompany TATE's summer blockbuster, opening July 12 in London.
