Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes

A deep dive into the world of Marvel, from the influence of legendary comic creators to the power of the fans

Marvel Comics and Marvel Studio Films are not only the enduring voices of the Super Heroes themselves, but also the diverse visions of Marvel‘s writers, artists, actors and filmmakers. Accompanying an exhibition at Seattle's Museum of Pop Culture, this book features legendary comic creators, up-and-coming talent, editors, executives, artists, actors and show-runners, along with articles about the history and power of the Marvel fans, with stories that stretch our conceptions of heroes, whether through personal history, fandom or fashion. Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes features dozens of images of the creation and realization in both the comics and films of some of the biggest stars of the Marvel Universe, including Black Panther, Captain America, Spiderman, Ms. Marvel and the Hulk, as well as in-depth photographs of the exhibition itself.

Featuring interviews with and articles by some of the stars and legends who created the Marvel Universe, including Marvel founder Stan Lee; author of Rise of the Black Panther Evan Narcisse; the actor Clark Gregg, who embodied Phil Coulson in countless MCU films; Ms. Marvel creator G. Willow Wilson; and Marvel's Chief Creative Officer and former Editor-in-Chief, Joe Quesada; as well as many others.

'Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes' spits in the eye of the dragon

'Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes' spits in the eye of the dragon

In celebration of Marvel's mega-record-breaking release of Avengers: Endgame, we're featuring John Buscema and George Klein's original cover art for Avengers #57, published in 1968. It's reproduced from Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes, releasing this week in the United States. "Marvel is a cornucopia of fantasy," the late, great Marvel legend Stan Lee is quoted. "A wild idea, a swashbuckling attitude, an escape from the humdrum and prosaic. It's a serendipitous feast for the mind, the eye and the imagination, a literate celebration of unbridled creativity, coupled with a touch of rebellion and an insolent desire to spit in the eye of the dragon." continue to blog
