Owner (and chemical engineer) Lucy Yu opened the store out of a desire to create a space where book lovers can dream together, share their passion, strive for change, and push systems closer to justice. Because there is a lack of representation within the literary space, it is her goal to create a space where everyone feels welcomed and heard.
