| | | NEW PUBLICATION Edited with text by Sarah Fredholm. Text by Mari Hvattum, Pireeni Sundaralingam, Mikkel Bille, Tim Flohr Sørensen. Conversation between Anish Kapoor and Marie Nipper.
Renowned British Indian artist Anish Kapoor is known for his monumental and spectacular installations that explore the tension between mass and emptiness, between what can be seen and what cannot. This is evident through his works that invite viewers to gaze into his black holes”—the paradoxical manifestations of invisibility that fundamentally challenge the experience of spectators. He incorporates a wealth of unconventional materials to form these voids and protrusions: stretched or deflated PVC skins, concave or convex mirrors, recesses carved in stone. This richly illustrated catalog delves into Kapoor’s work over the past 40 years, spotlighting select pieces emblematic of his . . . .go to book page >> | | Free Shipping UPS GROUND IN THE CONTINENTAL U.S. FOR CONSUMER ONLINE ORDERS | STRANDBERG PUBLISHINGPbk, 8.75 x 10.75 in. / 160 pgs / 73 color / 46 bw. | 9/17/2024 | In stock | US $40.00 |

| NEW PUBLICATION Text by Anne Blond.
Hans Wegner’s sophisticated chair designs, paragons of the midcentury-modern style, are beloved and imitated the world over, but scant few are familiar with his masterly watercolors. Wegner often used the medium to finish and finalize the drawings made in his workshop. Although woodworking and watercolor were both increasingly considered traditional in the New Media Age, Wegner’s artistic temperament saw him use both these mediums to boundary-breaking effect in his search for the perfect chair. Watercolors by Hans J. Wegner showcases his watercolors in thematic chapters, delving into the artistic dimensions of his design studio. Beyond illustrations of some of his notable . . . .go to book page >> | | Free Shipping UPS GROUND IN THE CONTINENTAL U.S. FOR CONSUMER ONLINE ORDERS | STRANDBERG PUBLISHINGHbk, 9.5 x 10.75 in. / 192 pgs / 200 color. | 1/7/2025 | In stock | US $60.00 |

| NEW PUBLICATION Edited by Yoshiharu Tsukamoto, Siena Hirao, Akiko Tsukamoto, Daiki Chiba.
In his ongoing research into how different usages of windows influence their design, Japanese architect Yoshiharu Tsukamoto (born 1965) traveled to Denmark, Sweden and Finland. The result of his fieldwork is The Nordic Window: the first ever publication on the topic. Here, Tsukamoto and his students at the Tokyo Institute of Technology analyze a long list of canonical projects from the Nordic architectural tradition through beautiful photographs and elaborate blueprint-like drawings. Their approach emphasizes both the physical elements of the window, but also the more ephemeral aspects such as behavior and atmosphere. This book is a study into how the . . . .go to book page >> | | Free Shipping UPS GROUND IN THE CONTINENTAL U.S. FOR CONSUMER ONLINE ORDERS | STRANDBERG PUBLISHINGPbk, 6 x 8.5 in. / 320 pgs / 256 color / 171 bw. | 3/19/2024 | In stock | US $45.00 |

Verner Panton (1926–98) was Danish design’s enfant terrible during the mid-20th century. While his colleagues prioritized natural materials and manual craftsmanship, Panton experimented with colored plastic, fiberglass, steel and synthetic fabrics and tested new industrial mass-production methods. In 1960, he debuted the first single-form injection-molded plastic chair, known as the S chair, which is still produced today. While Panton’s works are undoubtedly connected to the ethos and aesthetics of the 60s and 70s, their mixture of utilitarianism and comfort presages the concerns of contemporary design. Panton: Environments, Colors, Systems, Patterns presents a comprehensive look into the designer’s world.
