| | | Our Favorite Oranges: A Curated Book Selection for Interior DesignersFor Interior Designers: Our selection of art and illustrated books with orange colored bindings and jackets, especially selected for private libraries, dens, and living rooms | NEW PUBLICATION Edited with text by Erin Christovale. Foreword by Ann Philbin. Text by Franya J. Berkman. Interviews by Ashley Kahn, Erin Christovale.
This volume unpacks the cultural legacy of musician, spiritual leader, wife and mother Alice Coltrane. Accompanying the eponymous exhibition at Los Angeles’ Hammer Museum, the book takes its title from Coltrane’s 1977 autobiography and devotional text, Monument Eternal, in which she reflected on her newfound spiritual beliefs and the path to healing and self-discovery. Coltrane was ahead of her time, as her son, saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, says: she was one of the first people to move outside the mainstream, and certainly one of the first female, Black, American jazz musicians to record her own music in her own studio, and to release music on her own terms. Alice Coltrane, Monument Eternal explores themes including spiritual transcendence, sonic innovation and architectural intimacy. The project juxtaposes works from 19 contemporary American artists with pieces of ephemera from Coltrane’s archive—including handwritten sheet music, . . . .go to book page >> | | STATUS: Out of stock Temporarily out of stock pending additional inventory. | DELMONICO BOOKS ISBN 9781636811567

| NEW PUBLICATION Foreword by John P. Stern. Text by Eric Booker, Nora Lawrence, Kate Nesin, Anne Reeve, Arlene Shechet, Sheena Wagstaff.
Published in conjunction with her exhibition of the same title, Girl Group brings together New York–born and based artist Arlene Shechet’s (born 1951) recent work in wood, steel, ceramic, paper and bronze with six new monumental sculptures created for the expansive grounds of Storm King Art Center in New Windsor, New York. The exhibition centers on the translation of Shechet’s lyrical ceramics into the six robust, large-scale painted metal sculptures, an ambitious new body of work that expands upon the artist’s intuitive and handmade approach. Through her signature emphasis on process and improvisation, Shechet harnesses the expressive power of geometry, . . . .go to book page >> | | Free Shipping UPS GROUND IN THE CONTINENTAL U.S. FOR CONSUMER ONLINE ORDERS | GREGORY R. American artist Mark Bradford’s (born 1961) expansive practice is based on the dynamics of movement within the prism of racial identity. Through textured paintings, satirical videos and installations imbued with layers of history and social critique, he urges contemplation on the mobility of identity and societal frameworks.

| NEW PUBLICATION By Ian Lynam. Edited by Chris Palmieri, Louise Rouse.
With Fracture, author Ian Lynam presents a survey of Japanese design across a century as told through the biographies of its most influential creators. The chronology begins less than two decades after Japan’s opening to the West, ending a 200-year isolationist policy. Lynam features the stories of more than 90 pacesetters shaping the country’s modern aesthetic. We meet Hani Motoko, considered Japan’s first female journalist, who commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to build the Hall for Tomorrow schoolhouse in Toshima City, Tokyo. Amid the national propaganda of the interwar period, a vision of the modern Japanese woman emerges in the advertisements of Hisui . . . .go to book page >> | | STATUS: Out of stock Temporarily out of stock pending additional inventory. | SET MARGINS’ PUBLICATIONS ISBN 9789083449845
