Founded in 1941 as The Art Center in La Jolla, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) has evolved into an organization of national and international renown. Dedicated to the exhibition, interpretation, collection, and preservation of art created since 1950, MCASD is known for collecting works by promising emerging artists and under-recognized, mid-career artists, as well as by major figures in international contemporary art. MCASD publishes print editions of their catalogues and exhibitions to facilitate the understanding of contemporary art and ideas. These catalogues represent the depth and variety of the museum’s collection, while keeping with the vision of promoting education and access.
