The Pavilion of Finland: 59th International Art Exhibition, la Biennale di Venezia
Published by Mousse Publishing. Edited with text by Christina Li.
This book accompanies Finnish artist Pilvi Takala’s (born 1981) exhibition at the Venice Biennale chronicling the six months she spent working as a security guard at a mall. Featuring notes, interviews and other materials, it reflects on the moral dilemmas that she encountered while on the job.
Pilvi Takala (born 1981) deals with the constitutions and limits of social groups and communities. Her videos, books and installations are based on interventions in semi-public spaces and this first monograph documents most of her work since 2005. The design of this publication reflects Takala’s artistic strategies and the narrative nature of her work.
