In 2017, German painter Sebastian Heiner (born 1964) worked for six months in Shanghai, producing the lively, brightly colored depictions of the overwhelming megacity collected in this book. Drawings, gestural paintings, photographs and texts by the artist occupy a mid-ground between dream and reality.
