|   |   | CHARTA/POGGIALI E FORCONIRoberto Coda ZabettaEssay by Luca Beatrice.
Roberto Coda Zabetta's large canvases--white and black glazes from which it is nearly impossible to decipher shades or chiaroscuro effects--are the elaboration of faces derived from photographs used as sketches, often taken from reality or from television images in a process of casual yet neurotic combination. As one draws closer to the canvas, the image loses plausibility and structure to become action, gestural art, signs and symbols. Born in 1975, Zabetta has obtained important recognition as one of Italy's most interesting contemporary painters. Included in this monograph of his paintings is a critical essay on Zabetta's work.
