Modern Classicist: A Mans Guide to Look at the Details
Text by Sergei Sviatchenko, Jeremy Hackett, Jason Jules, Christian Kortegaard Madsen.
A photographic celebration of the details of clothes, from the author of the acclaimed fashion blog
This volume documents the ongoing photo-based project exploring the "visual language of style" by Danish Ukrainian architect and artist Sergei Sviatchenko (born 1952). Begun as a blog in the mid-2000s, the project morphed into a magazine with contributions from Jeremy Hackett and Jason Jules. Sviatchenkos colorful photographs portray the details of mens clothing, aiming to capture the spirit of modern style and forge a dialogue between men, clothing and photographic image. Subjects faces appear only rarely, and usually obscured, so that readers find themselves experiencing Sviatchenkos unique eye for clothing, as it is drawn to particular qualities of fabric, cut and color or homes in on a particular combination of clothing. This volume conveys Sviatchenkos boundless love for contemporary fashion.
